International Travel

You may be eligible to travel without a visa. The Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) is an automated system that determines the eligibility of visitors to travel to the United States under the Visa Waiver Program.  PLease visit https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/tourism-visit/visitor.html for more information about obtaining a B-2 Visa.  SSMF will provide you with appropriate documentation to secure a B-2 visa.

Air Travel

Sewanee is serviced by both Nashville (one hour thirty minutes) and Chattanooga (forty-five minutes) airports.

SHUTTLES:

Shuttle transportation via Groome Shuttle can be arranged. Be sure to let us know your shuttle’s arrival time via the information form on Acceptd. Shuttles will drop participants at the Smoke House in Monteagle, TN. A member of our staff will be there when your shuttle arrives and will drive you the rest of the way to Sewanee’s campus (about 10 minutes).

SHUTTLES FROM CHATTANOOGA AIRPORT: If you are flying into the Chattanooga Airport, you will need to take a taxi to the Groome office (about 10 minutes away) and take your shuttle from there to Monteagle, TN.

We ask that participants traveling by air schedule their departures from the Festival for Monday, July 20th to ensure ample time for the concert festivities, check-out procedures, and travel to the airport. There will be no fee for staying this extra night.

Driving to Sewanee

Please note: Pre-college students are not permitted to drive themselves alone to SSMF.

Check-In(please review the detailed check in procedures in the student handbook and Residence Life page)

Check-in for early arrivals will begin at 4:00 pm on Friday, June 19th. Please plan your flights and shuttles accordingly. There will be a $75 early check-in fee.

Regular check-in will be Saturday, June 20th from 8:00 am—6:00 pm.

Check-Out (please review detailed check out prodecures in the student handbook and on the residence life page) 

Check-out will begin after the orchestra concerts on Sunday, July 19th.

We ask that participants traveling by air schedule their departures from the Festival for Monday, July 20th to ensure ample time for the concert festivities, check-out procedures, and travel to the airport. There will be no fee for staying this extra night. There will be a $75 fee for staying past the 20th.

Please note students departing prior to the end of the festival will not receive pro-rated tuition or housing costs.
