Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Partnerships
The Sewanee Music Festival is housed on the campus of The University of the South, commonly known as Sewanee, which comprises a nationally ranked residential College of Arts and Sciences and a School of Theology. The University is strongly committed to the values of intellectual inquiry, diversity, equity, and inclusion, and living and serving in community. As the largest non degree program of the University, the Sewanee Music Festival seeks to further these DEI commitments by actively recruiting and enrolling students from a diverse set of musical backgrounds to help enrich the cultural diversity of our musically immersive environment in which our students spend four intensive weeks studying, performing and flourishing together. Each year since 2017 at least $40,000 of overall scholarship funding is distributed to students from these and other Diversity, Equity and Inclusion programs. In addition, the festival matches scholarships offered by these programs so that their students may attend the festival. We are proud to work with all of the programs listed below.
