Announcing the SSMF 2027 Season

June 13 – July 11, 2027

We’re thrilled to preview the upcoming 2027 Sewanee Summer Music Festival! With expanded programs, celebrated conductors, and major repertoire, next summer promises to be one of our most exciting yet!

Orchestral highlights for the season include:

Shostakovich – Symphony No. 1
Stravinsky – Firebird (1919)
Mozart – Symphony No. 36 in C major
Brahms – Symphony No. 1
Stravinsky – Rite of Spring (season finale)

Concerto Lab: Strings, Harp & Tenor Trombone

The Concerto Lab returns in 2027 with opportunities for strings, harp, and trombone students to perform solo works with orchestra. This program is designed to support artistic growth, technical development, and stage experience.

Chamber Music Intensive

The Chamber Music Intensive includes winds, brass, strings, and piano for flexibility and deeper collaboration across chamber ensembles.

Pre-College Experience Programs for Strings

A two week program for pre-college string players.  These programs are ideal for students who love music but are looking for a more well rounded summer educational experience.  Prep courses for standardized tests such as SAT, ACT and PSAT will be offered, along with a variety of summer camp activities outside of music.
