Jon Lewis grew up in Falls Church, Virginia and studied trumpet performance at the University of Kansas. He moved to the Los Angeles area in 1981and has been active in all areas of music for the last 44 years. Jon is principal trumpet in the Santa Barbara Symphony and has been a member since 1988. He has either been a member or played with most of the performing groups in the LA and surrounding areas and has played with traveling orchestras including the American Ballet Theater (ABT) and Joffrey Ballet. Jon also enjoys the distinction of being very active in the Los Angeles recording industry, playing in over 800 movies and over 1,000 tv shows. Jon has recorded with film composers such as John Williams, Randy Newman, Alan Silvestri, James Newton-Howard, Alexandre Desplat, Jerry Goldsmith, James Horner and many many others.

Jon also performs as a soloist and in recitals, appears as a clinician, gives masterclasses and lessons. He previously taught trumpet at California State University, Northridge for 15 years.
